Did you know that bioluminescence created by phytoplankton in a clean sea reveals the charm of bioluminescent waves? The choice of bioluminescence and the fight against mucilage symbolize a symbolic expression, reflecting our most fundamental preferences. Bioluminescence and mucilage symbolize not only the unique beauty of Gökçeada but also a strong example of solidarity with its people.
Gökçeada, with its natural beauty and a community bound by a spirit of solidarity, stands as a monument to values that are at risk of being lost in urban life. Even though the scale is large, cities such as Istanbul, Bursa, and Çanakkale can demonstrate a voluntary stance against ecological destruction.
In this context, Gökçeada encapsulates the essence of our efforts. We, who want to preserve the Sea of Marmara together with the people of this region, are working to multiply good examples. We are aware that the pollution of the Sea of Marmara, a tangible reality like water, will negatively affect all our seas. In order to be the voice of all marine life, land, air, and water, on April 29, 2022, we held a panel as Mussel-Free Marmara. The panel was open to the public and featured valuable academics from Istanbul University's Gökçeada Marine Research Unit, research groups, the Gökçeada Tourism Association, and the Gökçeada Voice Newspaper.
During the panel, we emphasized the importance of Gökçeada for the Aegean and Marmara Seas. We presented project proposals developed by observing the needs of the local community, and we received their opinions and suggestions. We continue our efforts to choose bioluminescence for Gökçeada, to be a voice for the Sea of Marmara, and to speak for all our seas.
Choose Gökçeada and bioluminescence to protect our unique areas with natural beauty, cultural heritage, and natural heritage, just like Gökçeada!
[Note: "Yakamoz" refers to bioluminescence caused by certain types of phytoplankton. The term is often used to describe the sparkling lights on the sea surface caused by these microorganisms.]
